This year’s Sheffield Charity Construction Ball celebrated its 20th Anniversary in style as it raised a massive £28,000 for Sheffield Hospitals Charity, taking the total raised to date since it first started in 2001 to £327,000.

“Being able to bring the local built environment back together for the 20th anniversary Sheffield Charity Construction Ball last week, after over two years away, was truly special.”

Organised by HLM Architects, Arup and RLB, the aim of the Ball is to bring together the region’s construction and property sector once a year to have fun, whilst giving something back to the community.  The most recent event was a sell-out and was sponsored by Baker Mallet, Services Design Associates, Eastwood Consulting Engineers, Mott MacDonald, CIOB, HE Barnes and Anderson Green, and took place in the glamourous surroundings of the newly refurbished Crowne Plaza Hotel Ball Room, as over 300 guests were entertained by British Athletics and Olympic legends Derek Redmond, Jamie Baulch with music from the Acoustic Angels.

We are really proud to have been involved in organising this event from the very beginning and helping to make a difference to so many local charities along the way.

Sam Earnshaw, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Sheffield Hospitals Charity said: “We are blown away by the phenomenal amount raised. This will make a big difference to our work with staff, patients and their families across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals”

Representatives of the RLB/Arup/HLM organising committee commented; “Being able to bring the local built environment back together for the 20th anniversary Sheffield Charity Construction Ball last week, after over two years away, was truly special. And raising £28,000 for such a worthy local charity, whose beneficiaries have been so hard hit over the pandemic, is both fitting and inspiring. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported and donated!”
