HLM celebrates successful first year in Plymouth

HLM Architects celebrated its first year in Plymouth on Wednesday 14th July with a barbeque and drinks reception, held on The Green near its office in Royal William Yard, Plymouth.

Approximately 100 of the great and the good of the property world including clients from the South West attended, as well as the Deputy Lord Mayor and Deputy Lady Mayoress of Plymouth.

Caroline Buckingham, Director at HLM Architects, said at the event: “It’s been a year of change.  The industry has had to be agile, and the buildings we have designed have had to be adaptable and efficient and deliver best value.  This is going to continue as we face challenging times but, if we work together, we can achieve more.”

In his speech, Ajay Sharma, Regional Director of the Plymouth office, added: “We have grown from 2 to 10 in our first year, a great achievement in a difficult market and testament to the work that we do and the relationships we have forged with clients across the region.  We are strong, enthusiastic and committed and look forward to our future in Plymouth.”

The opening of HLM’s Plymouth office in 2009 took its UK network to seven locations.  The company operates as one team, transferring skills across the practice and allocating the best people for projects.  In the South West, it is currently working on the regeneration of Derriford Hospital, Exeter University’s new Business School and the £30 million HMS Raleigh masterplan in Plymouth.  It also completed Wood View Learning Community last year.
