HLM has been ranked a top 10 employer in the construction industry according to the Building Good Employer Guide 2018. The practice was recognised last night for its achievement at the Building Awards, the industry’s longest running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the sector.
Over 70 companies were scored against key criteria including: training; outreach and recruitment; flexible working and parental policies; connection and communication; and wellbeing. While in the top 10 overall, HLM topped the flexible working and parental policies category for its efforts in making remote and agile working easier for the team.
The judges said: “HLM has an exceptional approach to flexible working and parental policies. A standout element is the option of a nine-day fortnight, which has proved extremely popular, but the company runs a range of measures designed to fit in with workers’ lives, meaning that valued members stay when they otherwise might have left and a wider pool of potential workers is available.”
Karen Mosley, Managing Director at HLM, said: “Our staff have always been at the heart of our business and its their commitment that drives our success as an architectural practice. This recognition by a leading national publication is testament to the time we spend making sure we have a great working environment and support every member of our team. Being benchmarked against our peers and coming out in the top 10 is the icing on the cake.”
HLM was also named a finalist for Architectural Practice of the Year in the Building Awards.
