HLM shortlisted for AJ100 International Practice and 3 Regional awards

Architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and environmental consultancy practice, HLM, has been shortlisted for International Practice of the Year and for 3 Regional Awards in the 2012 Architect's Journal AJ100 Awards.

The prestigious awards held by the profession's bible, the Architects' Journal, celebrate the achievements of the most successful practices in the business. The results will be announced at the annual AJ100 Member's Dinner and Awards later this month at the Grange St Paul's Hotel, London.

HLM established a new Johannesburg and Abu Dhabi office last year and its involvement in a number of major healthcare and education project sectors worldwide, where demand for the practice's specialist skills has resulted in invitations to participate in international competitions.

HLM's extensive experience in the education sector has led to work ranging from the University of Pretoria's Student Centre to projects for Waterkloof Primary School, also in Pretoria and the design and masterplan of the new main University in Abu Dhabi.

HLM's expertise in custodial buildings has informed work on prisons in Belgium and Chile. The practice's skill in the medical sector have been called upon in South Africa for the Germiston Hospital in the city of Germiston, Guateng province, and the Morningside Mediclinic, Sandton, Johannesburg.

Chris Liddle, chairman at HLM said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for these Awards. It recognises our strategic expansion overseas based solidly on our expertise and flair in key sectors, alongside our continued commitment to our staff. We're looking forward to building on this in the coming year."
