Brian Samways
Associate Director - Commercial Services
Brian joined HLM in January 2009, having been group risk manager in a large national contracting company. He has been head of Commercial Services since June 2009. His 30 years' experience in the construction industry since his 1981 degree in quantity surveying has included roles from project QS to area commercial manager and from project coordinator on design and build projects to construction manager in various industry sectors. His multi-faceted experience, in-depth knowledge of the industry and attention to detail combine with his background in risk management and business continuity to help ensure HLM's resilience to all sorts of challenges. Brian has overall responsibility for all of the project-level legal affairs as well as risk management and business continuity across HLM. He brings a different interpretation to how the business looks at the challenges it faces, tempered with a strong sense of commercial reality.
