Guildford School of Acting

HLM were appointed by the Guildford School of Acting (GSA) Conservatoire, to design their new centre of excellence in Guildford. The GSA currently occupies 8 sites across Guildford causing inefficiencies in the management of the school.

The new project was designed to relocate the existing facilities onto one site providing 4500 m2 of accommodation for the Guildford School of Acting whilst also providing 100 units of student accommodation, cafes and bars and live/work units creating a new and vibrant community between the University of Surrey and Guildford City Centre.

The accommodation includes the main Musical Theatre, 15 smaller studios, 150 seat flexible use Theatre, Production School with workshops and stage set design facilities supported with a Learning Resource Centre, Administrative Offices and Cafe Bar Areas.

The new GSA is an integral part of the arts scene within Guildford and provides an exciting new home for the most successful school of acting to be found outside of London.
