HLM have designed a new two-form entry primary school with learning facilities for Reception aged pupils through to the end of Key Stage 2 learning in Year 6. The facilities consists of 14 standard classrooms, a design and technology classroom, a library, a main hall and a small hall. Staff areas include offices and reception/administration. Dining will be accommodated in the main hall with a catering area adjacent. The main halls have been located such that they are available for out of school uses including a single badminton court.
It has been built on the northern most portion of the land currently owned by the High School and it has spectacular views of Wembley Stadium. The land surrounding the school is predominantly private dwellings. The existing service road has been upgraded to create the new main access for the school.
The project included a new 2 form entry primary school, access road, external playspace, car parking and relevant landscaping. The first section was achieved mid November 2011. The short construction programme required off site construction (cross laminated timber) and there were a number of consultations to establish the most appropriate and flexible structural solutions.
In reflection of such a great project and hard work Preston Manor has been awarded BREEAM Excellent.
Shortlisted in BCSE Best of British Schools Awards 2012, Primary School Category.
