BSF Sheffield - Newfield School

Talbot and Newfield schools were in different locations, run separately and serving entirely different needs. Newfield is a comprehensive school with 1,000 pupils, Talbot a Special Educational Needs school with 120 pupils. Co-locating the schools in new and refurbished buildings on the existing Newfield site gave both schools new buildings, facilities and grounds, along with a sense of community, greater social interaction, inclusivity and understanding.

We involved all children in the school design process to enhance the sense of ownership of their new environment and, by incorporating the latest sustainable building methods, we ensured that that environment was one fit for generations to come. What's more, we've helped the school achieve its goal to improve all students' long-term career prospects by providing a technologically advanced learning environment suited to independence training, vocational and traditional curricula, where the educational journey is integrated with emotional and social learning.
