Queen Anne's School is an independent girls' school in Caversham, Reading. Founded in 1894, the school has seen many developments since that time in all areas - curriculum, teaching, pastoral care and facilities. In 2006 the Governors with support from the Grey Coat Foundation approved a strategic plan for the school which sort to develop and enhance the schools boarding accommodation.

In 2008 HLM Architects were appointed as Architects, Interior Designers and Landscape Architects for the provision of 2 new boarding houses.

HLM have worked closely with the School reviewing refurbishment and new build options to maximise the schools boarding accommodation. This detailed review period included briefing, space planning and layouts, existing building analysis, cost evaluation and local consultations.

Phase 1 - Holmes House - New build accommodation for 56 girls designed to replace an existing 3 storey block which is to be demolished. Holmes House was started onsite in August 2010 following planning approval in June 2010 and was completed in August 2011.

Phase 2 - Maddock House - New build extensions and upgrade of a 19th Century building. The building will be arranged over 3 floors, at ground level communal and staff accommodation is planned and at first and second floors boarding accommodation for 75 girls.
