The school is designed to accommodate 128 students across the two centres who will range from 11 to 16+ years old with further provision for a Hospital and Home Education Service suite to sit alongside these facilities, which can cater for around 8 pupils. They will work collaboratively but are to be managed by separate Head of Service and staff teams to reflect the differing focus of each centre.

The students that will attend the facility are highly vulnerable, often with a complex combination of learning, social and emotional needs. The demands therefore of this project differ significantly from other school projects.

The refurbishment of the existing school building will house all three of the services and shall be zoned to provide separated general teaching facilities. The new build element to the north of the site creating shared facilities for all three of the centres. This shall include specialist rooms such as art, technology, food technology, music, a health and wellbeing suite as well as a small childcare facility. This is linked to the existing building at first floor level via a bridge link to provide accessibility to the refurbishment element.
