Withybush Renal Unit

The South Wales Renal Network have commissioned a satellite Renal Dialysis Unit at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest. To provide 21 dialysis stations.  As part of the 'Designed for Life' framework, HLM alongside the design team comprising of Interserve; Track; Lee Wakemans; Hoare Lea and Opus team produced a solution that addresses the renal functional requirements in a flexible and future proof way and one that meets current accommodation requirements without compromising future development.

The chosen location, at the front of the site, adjacent to the existing main entrance and recent new A&E facility provides the opportunity to significantly impact on the hospital façade. The facility will improve greatly public perception of the hospital and both the pedestrian and traffic flow of the site. The consultation process included specialists from both the Withybush site and the existing unit at Morriston Hospital as well as patient representatives. This process ensures state-of-the-art facilities are provided based on best practice for renal services.
