Cornwall Eco Towns

HLM were chosen as one of the nine winning consultants to construct a pilot project Eco house near St. Austell in Cornwall. Our winning design achieves Code 6 standard for sustainable homes whilst answering the developer's brief for a desirable four bedroom family home.

The stringent brief called for economy in construction and our winning design.  The adaptable solution includes homeworking, a combined lounge/dining room area with a double height atrium space which helps achieve passive ventilation in the summer and controllable solar gain in the winter. Local materials have been used including reclaimed granite from the pilot site and it is hoped to utilise local skills from the boat building industry in the construction of the house.
