Defence Sixth Form College

The purpose built accommodation outside Loughborough relocates Welbeck College in Worksop and brings together the Army, Navy and Air Force students into the same environment. The design of the site and its external elements have through the use of sighting, land formation and materials, taken a sensitive approach to the prevailing site characteristics.

The HLM designed scheme provides an extensive new landscape for the schools residential and teaching accommodation. The concept creates a modern campus which is sympathetic to the countryside surroundings. Key features of the campus design include a sculptural arrival area, tree lined College Green, two oval lawns and a surrounding parkland setting. A extensive compliment of sports pitches have been designed and incorporated into the overall masterplan, including football, rugby, hockey, cricket and a floodlit all-weather pitch. Other outdoor sports facilities include netball, tennis and volley ball courts, athletics facilities and a high ropes confident course and obstacle course.
