Sale Town Centre Redevelopment

The urban design and subsequent redevelopment of Sale Town Centre included the provision of new civic facilities and refurbishment of the existing Town Hall. New external works transform an existing ‘back of house' access road and service yard for the existing buildings into a new urban plaza. The plaza provides a public open space for the local residents of Sale reconnecting this area to the canal.

The urban design solution creates a contemporary European style space providing a vibrant and interactive space. This was achieved by creating a central amphitheatre for formal and informal use, seating areas, a cycleway link and space for the retail outlets to utilise. The urban design included for a coordinated external lighting and furniture strategy to enhance the space function for use both day and night.
